Urban series that takes place between the Beach of the Shells and the new School of Arts that is being born in the palace of the Barahona family. It is 1905 and Luis Bernardo Valença, a thirty-seven-year-old bachelor and owner of a small shipping company, is revelling in Lisbon's luxurious high society. But his life is turned upside down when King Dom Carlos invites him to become governor of Portugal's smallest colony, the island of São Tomé e Principe.

In each episode, an apparently lost cause goes to court. However, the various stages of the case show us that not everything is as it seems and that no case is solved until the sentence is read.
