When Marian Longosi goes into hiding to escape her abusive ex-boyfriend she takes a job house-sitting. This results in her acquiring a canine with some odd habits as roommate. The small town seems safe enough but first, but Maria soon learns there's a black bear on the loose and then the police find the body of slaughtered man.
