The 38th NHK Taiga Drama is Genroku Ryoran. The "Forty-seven Loyal Samurai" is one of the most enduring and best loved stories of Japan's history. Michi, a 26 year old high school math teacher, tentatively accepts her boyfriend’s proposal of marriage, uncertain of her love for him but feeling pressure from her father and society to do what is expected of her. Taiyo no Kisetsu is a Japanese drama TV miniseries which first aired on July 7, 2002. It starred Hideaki Takizawa and was directed by Nobuhiro Doi. The program was a remake of an earlier film of the same name, released in 1956.

Strawberry on the Shortcake is a Japanese romance television drama series which stars Hideaki Takizawa and Kyoko Fukada and aired on TBS in 2001. It was written by Shinji Nojima, and directed by Nobuhiro Doi and Hiroshi Matsubara.

The series follows the romance, family life, and most importantly friendship that these 4 men from different generations experience. This is a confectionary with a "flavor" not like most. Located in the middle of an ordinary residential area, "Antique" stays open until 2 a.m. Every single thing in the shop is antique, in fact even the sherry glasses that water comes in look like they would cost 50,000 yen. On top of this, all the sweets that are sold are unbelievably delicious. The thing that is most peculiar about "Antique" though is that all 4 of the men that work here are very handsome, and each has an interesting past. "Satomi Hakkenden" tells the tale of eight samurai brothers and their adventures, with themes of loyalty and family honor, as well as Confucianism, bushido and Buddhist philosophy. "Satomi Hakkenden" is based off a 19th century 106 volume epic novel written by Kyokutei Bakin. The novel was written over a period of 30 years. Kyokutei Bakin had gone blind before finishing the tale, consequently, dictating the final portions to his daughter-in-law Michi.

Buranjeri-kurebayashi is a strange bakery which only opens from 11PM to 5AM. Drama series contains various cases involving people who visit Buranjeri-kurebayashi.

Tetsuhiko Toma is a surgeon who studied in the United States. He begins work at a private hospital in a rural area in Japan.
